Three important geotechnical codes of practice – BS 8004 for foundation, BS 8002 for earth retaining structures, and BS 8081 for grouted anchors – are being completely re-written in time for publication in June 2015. The first two of these codes were withdrawn from British practice in March 2010 (and the third made ‘obsolescent’) to coincide with the introduction of Eurocode 7 (BS EN 1997).
In accordance with the Statutes and traditions of the Association, the Committee shall include nine members elected by members of the British Geotechnical Association by postal ballot.

Since 1982 a bronze medal and a cash prize have been awarded annually by the ISRM for an outstanding doctoral thesis in rock
mechanics or rock engineering, to honour the memory of Past President Manuel Rocha. An invitation is now being extended to the whole Rock Mechanics community, for nomination for the Rocha Medal 2017.
Each nomination shall conform to the ISRM By Law No 7, namely as concerns Articles 2 and 3, and shall be received by the ISRM Secretary-General not later than 31 December 2015.
The deadline for Cooling Prize submissions has been extended by one week until 23rd January 2015.
