The Ground Forum are requesting support from industry to run work experience sessions for mentees on their Undergraduate Mentoring Scheme (GFUMP)

Ground Forum Undergraduate Mentoring Scheme – Call for work experience opportunities

The Ground Forum’s Undergraduate Mentoring Scheme is in its second year with approximately 40 university students from across the country taking part. Supported by mentors in industry, including those in our Early Career Group, the scheme aims to encourage more students into ground engineering. Through the scheme, the students have been privy to the support of their mentors now for four months, and to a series of workshops to aid the students with their CV and Interview Skills.

The British Geotechnical Association supports this mentoring scheme, and is now calling on members on behalf of the Ground Forum to support the scheme further.

The next stage in the scheme is to provide work experience opportunities to the students, giving the students a real insight as to the careers available within our industry, and experience of what a day-to-day role might look like. Some of the mentors on the scheme can offer work experience opportunities with their organisations, but Ground Forum need further experiences to offer, and this is where we seek your assistance.

Please consider whether you may be able to offer work experience within your organisation. The experience does not need to be paid, can take place either virtually or face-to-face, and should take place from April until July for around 2 weeks. Guidelines on what an appropriate work experience might look can be found here.

Please email gforum@ground-forum.org.uk by 23rd March if you are able to offer a work experience opportunity with a few brief details of what your company could offer.
