The talk will provide practical guidance for geotechnical engineers on how to approach the Professional Review and interpret the ICE guidelines into the geotechnical field. If you are considering sitting your Professional Review in the near future, this event will be a unique opportunity to get insight from two very experienced and well-accomplished geotechnical engineers, who are currently ICE Reviewers. Yvonne Ainsworth will talk about how to achieve different attributes and demonstrate competence at the Professional Review. Anurag Kushwaha will present some tips and advice on how to avoid potential pitfalls at the Professional Review.
The presentations will be followed by a short mock review including a presentation and an interview with a recent successful geotechnical engineer. This will be followed by a Q & A session with Yvonne, Anurag and a number of recent successful candidates.
Please join us for drinks after the event, kindly sponsored by Atkins.

Yvonne started her engineering life in 1995 in Aachen, Germany where she qualified as a civil and structural engineer specialising in Geotechnics. She started work in 2001 in the UK as a consultant with Atkins. She decided she belonged in the contractor’s world after her site placement with Cementation and remained working there as Design Team Leader. After a short career break travelling the world, she joined BAUER where she progressed to Construction and Technical Director. During this time she was involved in extremely challenging projects and took part in the Fleming Award 2011 with the construction of the D-shaped pile. In 2016, Yvonne set up her own business, ATD Engineering. Since then, she has worked on other interesting projects such as London City Airport, Thames Tideway and Gothenburg Central Station. Yvonne now works as a Director for Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions.
